1. Make it Cozy
This is the first step for an unforgettable and cozy New Year’s Eve at your place. Make it cozy and decorate your home! Buy fun streamers and decorations, or be creative and make them yourself! To make it even more fun, give everyone a party popper before midnight and shoot them off at midnight. Another fun idea is to light sparklers outside together. Glow in the dark sticks are also always a cheerful and colorful decoration. Which decoration will you choose?
2. NYE Dinner
You can’t celebrate New Year’s Eve at home without a delicious dinner! Go for a wonderful NYE dinner and cook delicious dishes together. Go all out with a tasty stuffed roast or keep it simple with a nice mashed potato dish. Anything goes, and nothing is too crazy.
A delicious dinner deserves delicious drinks! Make a delightful mulled wine with the recipe from Links12 and make everyone happy!
3. Countdown Bags
Do you want to celebrate New Year’s in a unique way at home? Then go for the super fun countdown bags! What does this entail? You choose the number of bags you want to use and choose a time for each bag (make sure you definitely have a bag for 11:55 PM). At this time, the bag will be opened, and you’ll be getting closer to the new year. But what do you put in the bags? Choose something sweet, like candies or cookies. Share fun stories and reminisce together or create new memories by putting a Polaroid camera in one of the bags. Pick a fun game for one of the bags that you can play afterward. And you can put the sparklers and confetti poppers from the first tip in the last bag!
Not convinced by the ideas? Go for original challenges! Let everyone write one or two challenges and put them in the bags. It will definitely be a blast!

Fun Fact
Did you know that many countries have special traditions for New Year’s? In Russia, they jump into an icy river holding a Christmas tree brrr…. In Denmark, they break a plate in front of their neighbors’ doors. In Turkey, they sprinkle salt in front of their neighbors’ doors for good luck. In Spain, they eat a grape with every chime of the clock. In Singapore, they might have the most beautiful tradition. People write their wishes on inflatable white balls, which they then let float in the Singapore River. Neighboring country Netherlands also has different traditions, like eating oliebollen, shooting Carbid, and perhaps the craziest one, the icy New Year’s dive in the North Sea.
