The Secret to Asian Cuisine: Exploring Flavors at Home

It seems like ordinary pasta with vegetables, but it’s so delicious that you might involuntarily swallow your tongue or wake up after having eaten two plates.

How do these people from distant Asia do it?! Is it passed down somehow through blood or from mother to mother?

The sauce, my friends, it’s all about the sauce. I’ve tried different combinations of spices, lemon or lime, soy sauce, with mustard or without… they tasted good, but still not quite the same.

Then our friend moved from Poznań to Lisbon and gave away everything she couldn’t eat. That’s how these two beauties ended up in my kitchen:

Delicious pasta with vegetables

I decided to make rice with tofu and vegetables with the sauce on the left. And rice noodles with vegetables with the sauce on the right. It was something special!

I’ll start with the rice:)

Rice preparation

You will need:

🥢 100 g of rice

🥢 250 g of tofu

🥢 150 g of green peas

🥢 1 carrot

🥢 half an onion

🥢 2 cloves of garlic

🥢 1 egg

🥢 salt/pepper/lemongrass and chili sauce

Directions:

  1. While we cook the rice, chop the carrot, garlic, and onion into cubes and sauté in coconut oil (or any other oil) until golden brown.
  2. Crack the egg into the pan and stir intensely to cook it through.
  3. Then add the green peas and cubed tofu.
  4. Add our sauce to this mixture and sauté for about 7-8 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add the cooked rice and fry for another 5 minutes to combine all the ingredients.

The dish has a refreshingly spicy taste, warming – clearly thanks to the sauce.

On the side, we have pasta with vegetables.

Pasta preparation

We need to buy:

🥢 200 grams of rice noodles

🥢 2 red peppers

🥢 2 carrots

🥢 200 g of green beans

🥢 3 cloves of garlic

🥢 1 cm of ginger

🥢 salt/pepper/teriyaki sauce/sesame for garnish

Directions:

  1. Boil the rice noodles.
  2. Chop the ginger and garlic and sauté them in a pan.
  3. Add the pre-sliced carrots and pepper. Also, add the green beans and sauté until semi-cooked.
  4. Season with salt and pepper, then pour in the sauce, mixing thoroughly.
  5. Add the already prepared noodles and fry for a few more minutes. Sprinkle with sesame (if desired).

The taste is sweet and sour, which I really like. I could eat this every day and don’t think I would ever get tired of it.

So, homemade sauce or store-bought?!
